Feadship Do It Again With 'Hampshire II'

The renowned Dutch shipyard Feadship have yet again amazed with their newest launch the 78.50m (257.7ft) Hampshire II for a repeat customer. The launching ceremony took place yesterday the 14th of April in the presence of the owner's, friends and staff from the shipyard.

Hampshire II is full of many unusual features, one being the yachts teak helipad on the foredeck which can be transformed into a playing field for basketball, tennis, baseball, badminton and football. A giant net is placed around the deck to ensure no loss of the games balls. Two teams made up of the owner's friends and shipyard staff showed off this feature before the launching ceremony.

Some more of her unusual features include a crows nest placed on top of the mast that's reached by a two person elevator and offers amazing views high above the water. For the thrill seeking guests, a zip wire is connected to the mast where guests can tie a rope and slide at breathtaking speed from the crows nest down to the water. Guests will also have the use of a magnificent aft beach club finished in a driftwood style design, with two platforms that open up on either side in addition to the swim platform at the stern. She will be able to accommodate 14 guests in six staterooms and a crew of 21 will attend to her daily running.

Feadship director Dick van Lent paid tribute to the owner of Hampshire II saying;

“It has been a pleasure and a privilege to create such a unique vessel for such a passionate sailor. As an experienced Feadship owner, he really appreciates the qualities of a Feadship and the fun of being closely involved in the design and construction process.”
